Hearts with the tip turned such as this one, are known as “witch’s” or “bewitched” hearts. Popular in the 17th and 18th centuries, they were often worn for protection from evil spirits and then later, as symbols of love (e.g., that the wearer and their beloved hearts were “bewitched” by love).
This particular ring is vintage, made of 14k gold. The gold has a warm patina to it. The ring is sturdy and in good condition. It has signs of wear, which we think lends it character. The ring weighs 3.05 grams.
