Notes from a Personal Collection: the 21 Club Scarf

21! What comes to mind with the number 21? Well, at least for me: alcohol! 21, you see, is the legal drinking age in the U.S., the 21st amendment repealed prohibition, and one of the most celebrated speakeasies, is named 21 Club. Over time, the 21 Club (later just “21”) became quite the celebrated restaurant with presidents and playboys dining there on the regular. During the 50s and 60s, 21 would present its best customers with an exclusive silk scarf. The scarf would always feature the number “21,” as well as one of the restaurant’s lawn jockeys for which it had also become famous.
